Book Selection Criteria
The book chosen for 1C1B each year will be:

of evident literary quality
-
conducive to reflection and discussion
-
of proven appeal to a broad audience, including younger readers

in print and widely accessible, preferably in both Chinese and English
Book Selection Process

Nominations for each year’s book are accepted year-round via the 1C1B website and at 1C1B events. Anyone may submit a nomination.

The 1C1B directors begin the selection process by narrowing the public nominations to a shortlist.

The directors submit the shortlist to the 1C1B Advisory Board, which makes a final selection from the shortlist.
