The Centre for Popular Culture in the Humanities is a research centre housed in the Faculty of Humanities at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK). It adopts a broad view of popular culture that covers both the culture of everyday life and its mediation through print (newspapers, magazines, literature), multimodal media (music, cinema, photography and advertising, visual and material culture), and new digital media.

Teaching Ambassador Scheme

We have trained a number of our BEd (English Language) and BA (Language Studies) students to talk about The Arrival, Shaun Tan’s wordless graphic novel and the chosen book for 1C1B 2019, to a variety of audiences including primary and secondary school students, the elderly, migrants, etc. The activities range from storytelling and drawing elicitation to more developed visual literacy approaches to the book.
